Charles Barnett – Born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
High School Graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in 1970.
The war drum or “Djembe” was part of his heritage from birth, but his days on the road started back in the early ’70s in Oklahoma City, with six time Grammy Award winning couple Billy Davis Jr. and Marilyn McCoo. Since then, he has traveled the world using his gift to inspire people. Charles’ unique gift is a heart of passion expressed through the War Drum of Africa, as he allows the heart of his ancestors to play through him to share HOPE with the world.
Charles’ musical travels have been inspired while working with such great artists and song writers of Motown Records, such as; Chuck Berry, Stevie Wonder, Al Green, and Tim Miner. With a diversity of rhythms and sounds of jazz, gospel, and funk, his music finds its way into the heart to strengthen HOPE.
His gift is anointed, entertaining, and unique to audiences of all ages while he continues to travel around the globe bringing HOPE.
Other artists and organizations that Charles has worked with among the years are; The Cruse Family, The Latinos, and Michael W. Smith.
